APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2

Leica brought the APO-Summicron formula into the autofocus SL system in 2019. The SL version adds autofocus, weather sealing, and image stabilisation while preserving the APO chromatic aberration correction that made the M version famous. The Leica L mount — shared with Panasonic and Sigma through the L-Mount Alliance — means this lens works on a growing ecosystem of camera bodies.

For beginners: the SL system is Leica's answer to the Sony A7 and Nikon Z — a full-frame mirrorless system with autofocus. The APO-Summicron SL 50 is for photographers who want the optical quality of the M APO-Summicron but need autofocus for events, sports, or simply prefer not to master rangefinder focusing. The rendering is clinically sharp and free of colour fringing; it lacks the "character" of M-mount vintage glass by design. It is a tool optimised for maximum technical performance.
