Leica Q3

Famous for
- 60 MP full-frame sensor with 8K video — the Q system's most capable iteration
- PDAF added to the Q line for the first time, enabling confident autofocus tracking
The Leica Q3, announced in June 2023, is the current and most capable iteration of the fixed-lens Q line. It shares the 60MP BSI CMOS sensor from the M11, giving it resolution that makes the effective crop of the digital zoom feature (which simulates 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm framing from the 28mm lens) genuinely useful rather than a compromise. It also adds an articulating rear display — a first for a Q body — and improved autofocus.
At $5,995, the Q3 is the premium fixed-lens compact benchmark. It sits in the same category as the Sony RX1 or the Ricoh GR, but at a different price point and with a different set of values: the Q3 is built to last, optically excellent, and deeply pleasurable to use. For photographers who shoot primarily in the 28mm field of view and want one camera that does it definitively, the Q3 makes a compelling case.

Variants & finishes
New 2026 colorway for the Q3 — a matte metal-gray finish that distinguishes it visually from the standard black. Functionally identical to the black Q3.
The original and most common Q3 finish. Full-frame 60MP sensor with a fixed 28mm Summilux f/1.7 — no lens swapping, just a refined all-in-one compact system.
Silver-finish Q3 for those who prefer the classic Leica look on a modern fixed-lens compact. Same sensor and optics as the black version.
