Leica solved the AA's production problem with a single precision-molded aspherical element. The 1994 ASPH delivered most of the double-aspherical's correction at a manufacturable cost and held the line until the 2010 FLE. Used examples are the value pick among aspherical 35 Summiluxes — the known quirk is focus shift stopping down, which is exactly what the FLE was designed to fix.
